What's Its Story?

What's Its Story?

Aug 23, 2024

This little catbird was on its way back to its nest to bring some food to its young.

(Like all good bird parents do.)

But, it stopped before it got there, to make sure that nobody was watching it, including me.

All so it could keep its nest location a secret.

If it takes too long to gain clearance, it’ll eat the wiggling insect itself, and find other nourishment to bring back to the babies.

How do I know this?

I don’t.

My mind made it up quick because it’s what the mind does.

Not consciously.

But it fills in unknown gaps so a story develops.

Because a story makes life’s events feel more certain and understood.

What story are you telling yourself now…

or is someone telling themselves about you…

that isn’t true?
