It's Your Turn
I thought I would’ve had a farm with pigs by the time I was 30.
Because I loved watching pigs as a kid.
They appeared unusually happy no matter the circumstance.
But when 30 came, I had nothing that I had expected or wanted. It was the first time I realized my ideas about my future were only ideas…
…and that unless I did a whole lot to move those ideas into reality, they would always stay ideas.
I’m almost 50 now. And my life again isn’t what I thought it would be at 50.
I thought for sure I would be sitting back with my feet up, reflecting on all my accomplishments.
But no. I’m not doing this.
I’m just beginning to get clear on my life trajectory.
Only now seeing my past learnings and skills come together for something that’s beyond pigs and resting feet.
And, in talking with others frequently, I see that a lot of us have lives that look different than we thought they would.
These ‘middle years’ are about coming to terms with this gap between what we thought would be, and what is.
This gap is a gift.
Leave room for it to deliver.
Go after what’s meaningful for you.
Everything you’ve done, and everywhere you’ve been until now, has been perfectly crafted to give you everything you need to step forward in a bigger way than ever before.
Whether you’re 20 or 80.
Your best is yet to come.
It’s your turn.
